Introduction:
As time passes, the situation of students with Limited English Proficiency continues to affect our region. The actuality of living near the border is what plays a key role in this situation, since there are students from Mexico receiving their education in the United States. Another key role for this situation is that there are students who have one if not both parents that come from Mexico, and as a result they do not speak the English language. A final key role is that having students in bilingual classes that only offer 10% of the entire class time in English is not very helpful.
All these factors create the problem of having many students in the upper grade levels rated with Limited English Proficiency. A possible solution is a technology program called Fun English, the school edition to be integrated as a fun and educational source for students to receive extra practice in the learning of the English language. |
